Effective vs. Ineffective DEI Actions
Effective vs. Ineffective DEI Actions

It's almost the end of the year, which is a great time to slow down and reflect... So while we're here, how well has your company done in terms of its DE&I commitments?

We are all on the path to being better people and better companies, and in that spirit we'd like to share ineffective vs. effective actions that companies can take to help create more inclusive, equitable, and welcoming spaces for BIPOC folk (as well as othermarginalized groups).

Here are some actions that companies have taken that have limited impact:

Statements

Employee Resource Groups

Trainings

One-time Donations

Although these can have a positive impact, we really see these as the first steps in a truly transformative DEIB program.

Here are some actions that companies can take to have a maximum impact:

Equitable Pay

Hiring Diverse Employees

Prioritizing Diverse Suppliers

DEIB Policies

Recurring Donations

And hereis a great illustration as to why we need to think more holistically and persistently about our DEIB actions:

Again, we recognize that everyone is on this path together, and we don't profess to know everything. If you have suggestions on effective actions companies or individuals within companies can take, please let us know and we will share it with our community... we are all in this together, and we are honored to be on this path toward racial justice together!
